The Federation is in Trouble.

Trekkies of the world unite!  The Star Trek Universe many of us grew up with is in mortal danger and is fading fast.  Ever since Gene's death, the Trek franchise has been entrusted to Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, who have not been very good stewards of the flame.  "Star Trek:  Nemesis" has been suffering from dismal returns at the box office and the ratings for "Enterprise" have been plummeting.  All the while, the "higher-ups" at Paramount, along with Berman, have been blaming this on a "shinking Star Trek fanbase".  What no one appears to have taken into account is that we Trekkies have not shrunk in numbers, we just refuse to spend money on or waste time watching shows or movies that do not live up to our expectations of Trek.  Because of the dismal failures of the "Nemesis" movie and the "Enterprise" TV show, the entire franchise is in danger of finding the back of a vault on Paramount's lot.

This has to stop.

If we are going to save the Federation, save Starfleet, and save the fictional universe we all love, we have to take matters into our own hands.  We have to, in no uncertain terms, let the people in charge of the franchise know that "enough is too much" and we aren't going to take it anymore.

You can help.

Write letters, send e-mails, join discussion groups, and join the campaigns that have been started to save Trek.  Let your voice be heard.

The loss of these campaigns leaves the letter-writing effort to us and us alone. If there are any other campaigns dedicated to saving Star Trek as we know it, please let me know and I will add them here. Otherwise, do not get discouraged. Both of these efforts were run by single individuals, and I'm sure they had good reasons to stop in their effort. Do not stop in yours. Collectively, regardless of a central point of control, we can overcome and will save Star Trek.
